the mysterious troy returns on dr with his second ep ever released. it seems like the perfect time for troys northbound ep, 4 very distinctive, cold, yet beautifully designed pieces, which perfectly underline the atmosphere this time of year.
on the a side, detail and evolution are the foundation of the lengthy *bh3*, which also futures a hard hitting remix by takaaki itoh from japan.
the b side features two more melodic cuts. *archer* stresses the journey into the cold, with its synth work nearing dissonance, while remaining in complex and admirable harmony. the title track *northbound* is a more straight forward loop, which builds up to something rather chilly and unheard before.

dub-ito is a new label born from the long time friendship of the southern italian duo claudio mate and francesco mazocco (defrag). the funny name of the label is a mix coming from playing with a few words from different languages while talking about music, giving a unique outcome. straight uncompromised beats meet proper dub-techno landscapes, with a special deeper remix version by fabrizio lapiana.

tresor records is proud to welcome shao yanpeng, the first chinese artist to enter the label�fs star-studded roster. shao is based in be.ing, china, where he has been making electronic music since 2002, and pursues his career as a producer and successful sound designer. with ‘doppler shift pt.1�’ shao continues to experiment with various facets of electronic music. on the a-side, ‘sensi’ dives straight into feverish synth work which halts into a suspenseful ascension to the climax. on the flip, ‘reflection pt.2’ takes on a more serene atmosphere slowly building and adding textures as the track progresses into a meticulously built composition.

after a series of mesmerising (and massive) eps under his more disco orientated yse saint laur ant moniker pressed for time label head ant plate is back in his deep house mode with an ep of yse goodness no messing about with the opener this loves the same yse goes straight in there with some dancefloor heat that has enough quirk to counteract the house swing. 9828 is all badboy garridge wonk with some excellent detuned chords and a catchy, nagging vocal refrain - swag. on the flip, i gave you my is proper deep house (as in it s actually deep) with some trademark yse chords, blissed out vocal samples and great drum programming. night prescription rounds things off with a homage to the classic us house sound. think chuggles i remember dance but with an east midlands twist.

devoted to the art of movement is the first record from nss (no spiritual surrender) a duo formed by j.c. (ahd co-owner together with damian schwartz) and kastil this e.p. centers it s attention towards electro, but continue ahds heritage of giving a twist to those 90s sounds that influenced us so much, from early idm to detroit, all is present here. the opening track is the one that gives the ep it s name, an acid stomper build around an electro beat that builds up and down fiercely. the track maintains its tension throughout its whole length by building strings and arpeggios over its acid sequence, never transferring its beat to a straight kick, capturing the attention since its first second. proposed playground is build around a more steady electro beat, strings and sounds merge themselves around the beat to create a beautifully hypnotic piece where where some background melodies tickle our ears bringing memories from idm golden years. zero one is closing track, without leaving the electro rhythms the defined the whole ep the track is build around a phrenetic synth sequence that sets the path for the whole length, rhythms are rough and strong and its syncopated hitting adds emphasis on that frenzy atmosphere since its first second till the last.

shlomi abers new 12inch slides perfectly into the nonplus catalogue with two slabs of straight up no nonsense techno. with well over 15 years of production history and 20 years of djing across the globe he knows exactly what it takes to move a dance floor. israel born and raised but heavily influenced by the old detroit techno movement shlomi managed to balance his roots into the modern wave of the current techno peers. working from an aladdin s cave of analogue gear he crafts a raw and groove laden sound often attempted but rarely achieved by others. takeover and street works are two tracks demonstrating hes a producer whos mastered his craft and is at the top of his game right now.

containing five synthesiser-led pieces, ‘loon’ was recorded in autumn 2014 across five days at nils’s durton studio in berlin, and continues on from the ambient sounds of ‘stare’ but with the addition of more percussive elements and dub influences. for this new ep the duo wired an oberheim 4 voice and a korg ps3100 to the mixing desk and performed live takes on both instruments. with all four hands on its pots, all mixes were recorded straight onto 2-track ½-inch tape. the vinyl ep includes a download code.
